Kevin Ford, Jr. Raises Over $200,000 Ahead of January Filing Deadline, Reflecting Broad Grassroots Support in District 24
Prince George’s County, MD — Kevin Ford, Jr., candidate for State Senate in Maryland’s 24th Legislative District, announced today that his campaign has raised over $200,000 ahead of Thursday's campaign finance filing deadline, reflecting strong early support from voters across the district and the county.
The campaign’s early fundraising success includes more than 650 individual donors, with over 60 percent of contributions coming from in-state donors, underscoring a broad base of grassroots and local support across Prince George’s County and Maryland.
“These early numbers reflect strong confidence in Kevin’s leadership and vision for District 24,” said Richard Merritt, campaign manager. “Raising more than $200,000 at this stage puts this campaign in a firm position heading into the June 23 Democratic primary.”
The campaign said the early fundraising reflects both respect for the district’s history of leadership and a recognition that District 24 is entering a new moment. With a strong foundation in place, the campaign says it is prepared to build on the work that has come before and meet the responsibilities of the next chapter of representation.
Ford, a longtime community advocate and organizer, is running on a platform focused on public safety through prevention, stronger schools, neighborhood revitalization, and leadership that is present, accountable, and accessible to the people it serves. His campaign has emphasized early investment in voter contact, visibility, and grassroots organizing signaling a formidable challenge.
“District 24 has benefited from years of dedicated public service, and I’m grateful for that foundation.” Ford said. This level of support is something I don’t take lightly. It tells me that people across our district, and state, believe in what we’re building, which strengthens my responsibility to work harder, listen closely, and deliver results for our community.”
With the Democratic primary scheduled for June 23, 2026, the campaign says it will continue expanding its coalition, engaging voters across District 24, and building on its early momentum.
