Kevin Ford Jr. Officially Enters Race for Maryland State Senate – District 24
Bowie, MD – Today, Kevin Ford Jr. publicly announced his candidacy for Maryland State Senate in District 24, officially entering the 2026 Democratic Primary. The announcement follows his official filing with the Maryland State Board of Elections on June 3, 2025.
Ford’s public launch builds on an intimate gathering he hosted on May 14, 2025, at a private residence in the Woodmore South community, where he first shared his intentions with close family, friends, and longtime supporters.
“This campaign is about service, solutions, and standing up for the everyday families that make Prince George’s County strong,” said Ford. “We’re stepping forward with new energy, clear priorities, and an unwavering commitment to listening to the people of District 24—and delivering.”
Ford—a husband, father, entrepreneur, civic leader, and proud Prince Georgian—brings a deep connection to the community and a record of grassroots leadership rooted in public service. A lifelong resident of Prince George’s County, he has worked with local organizations, small businesses, and families to address challenges ranging from economic development to education access.
His candidacy reflects the continuation of a generational shift taking shape in Prince George’s County politics, as new voices emerge to build on the legacy of those who came before while meeting today’s challenges head-on. Ford enters the race with strong early encouragement from community leaders, local advocates, and residents eager for visible, accountable leadership.
At a time when many are searching for renewed hope in an era of uncertainty at every level of government, Ford’s campaign offers a clear vision rooted in service, stability, and the belief that progress is possible when people lead with purpose.
With a background in community organizing, business development, and civic engagement, Ford’s campaign will center on educational equity, economic opportunity, public safety, and policies that support families at every stage of life. His people-first approach promises to bring fresh energy and thoughtful leadership to Annapolis.
Ford is expected to attend multiple community events throughout District 24 this weekend as part of his ongoing effort to meet voters where they are and hear directly from residents about their hopes, concerns, and ideas for the future.
